Mlimani Park Community began with people coming together — from different places, generations and backgrounds, but with one shared idea: to create real opportunities for young people.

For Deograsias Shirima, it started many years ago in his hometown of Mto wa Mbu. Social engagement has always been important to him, particularly through sport. With the Red Gym and local sports activities, he created places where young people could train, meet and build confidence.

A new generation brought fresh energy. Arthur Thielke, his sister Sophie and their friends wanted to get involved and create something meaningful themselves. For Arthur, football also has a personal connection: his late father was a passionate football fan and wrote the book Traumfußball. Federico joined with a strong financial perspective and a focus on how the project could become sustainable in the long term.

Then more experience came together. Doris Grondke, an urban planner from Kiel and long-time Africa enthusiast already involved in a social project in Moshi, brought her experience in planning and community development. Bianca Thielke's many years in Tanzanian tourism added the idea of connecting the project with tourism to create training, employment and future income. Andreas Hühn joined with his own passion and commitment to help move the vision forward.

What began as different people and ideas became one shared project — combining local roots, a new generation, professional experience and a lot of personal commitment.

That is Mlimani Park Community: a place growing from the community, built together, and created to give young people opportunities for their future.
